Who Is This Guy?

Former teacher.
Current work-in-progress.

I'm Billy Lahr. I spent 21 years in K-12 education before the wheels came off — not dramatically, just slowly, the way things do when you've been running on fumes long enough that you forget what it felt like to run on something else. I left. I ended up in Seoul, Korea, and stayed for four years — mostly because I found people who made me feel less alone in the mess of it all.

I overthink. I wrestle with anxiety. I lose sight of my privileges more often than I'd like to admit. I use humor to sidestep conversations I'm not ready to have. I'm aware of what I don't know, and I'm still working on sitting with that instead of sprinting away from it.

The Mindful Midlife Community isn't a self-improvement program. It's a table. A place where real thoughts sit next to other real thoughts, and you realize you're not as alone in this as you assumed. Come pull up a chair.

Community in Real Time

FreeWriters
A creative mental reset.

FreeWriters exists to give people a simple, accessible way to move their thoughts out of their heads and onto the page. It addresses a challenge most of us know well: feeling mentally overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or disconnected — without a clear way to process what's actually going on.

Here's how it works. A lucky someone picks a random word, and everyone writes continuously for five minutes — no stopping, no editing, no waiting for the right thought to arrive. If you get stuck, you write I don't know what to write until something shows up. And something always does.

Afterward, you share if you want to. No feedback. No commentary. We write, we share, and we listen. That's it.

Bring a notebook. Bring a pen. Bring whatever's been on your mind lately. We'll take care of the rest.

Check your email for dates, times, and locations.

Free When You Subscribe

Not the answer.
Just a starting place.

Jump Start Your Midlife is a free workbook designed to help you get honest about where you actually are, where you think you want to go, and what's really standing between you and the second half you haven't quite let yourself imagine yet.

It's not a roadmap. More like a flashlight — useful mostly for helping you see the next step instead of pretending you can see the whole staircase.

It's yours the moment you subscribe. No extra form. No upsell waiting on the other side.

What People Are Saying

Real people. Real words.

Kitty, South Africa
TESTIMONIAL

"I became a member of Billy's mindfulness community because I was grappling with a high level of nervous tension which was manifesting into an unhealthy relationship with my body, my smartphone, and my time. One thing I've learned from working with Billy is that mindfulness is essentially just surrendering to the moment. I have truly experienced the freedom of simply letting things be what they are, myself included."
